ABOUT
After nearly two decades of living the posh, perfect lifestyle, Bree's world came crumbling down when she discovered her husband Rex Van de Kamp was having an affair with the town's local dominatrix. It all began with the suicide of her best friend, Mary Alice Young, who threw the peaceful lane into chaos with a looming mystery surrounding her husband and her son, that tied the four remaining 'housewives' into the throws of madness. The first few seasons revolve around how Bree's life changed after the death of her friend, and how her perfect family and lifestyle began to fall apart.
PERSONALITY
At the start of the series, Bree is immediately presented by Mary Alice Young as being incredibly talented, self-sufficient, hard-working, and most of all, an obsessive compulsive maniac who the entire lane viewed as perfect, but her family did not. She is shown to be very obsessed with her image and how others perceive her, a talented domestic wife with the ability to serve a six-course meal for a basic dinner while wearing pearls, and very polite but assertive. As the series goes on, we see Bree's habits and obsessions are the result of having unhealthy cooping mechanisms as a result of wanting to control everything in her life. She witness at a young age the brutal death of her murder, and instead of crying or seeking help, she went inside and picked up cleaning supplies, wiping away the blood and mess from the incident. A lot of her personality and uptightness comes from her mother teaching her to mask her true feelings and to hide her emotions so she could have power over men.
As of now, she has grown a lot as a person, and despite being a NRA, gun obsessed Republican, she had become significantly more tolerant of others. Since her oldest son came out as gay, she went from trying to convert him back to straight, kicking him out for sleeping with a love interest of hers, to viewing him as her closest confidant and work partner. She has also worked on hard on shedding a lot of her repressed ways regarding sex, as a result of her trying to save her marriage. She still has a lot of hang ups, but her new husband (now ex-husband) taught her about self-pleasure and letting go the need to control everything regarding her own pleasure (she is still very fixated on the details involving sex however).
She is a recovering alcoholic and dealing with a great level of trauma, but she is slowly working on better coping habits for herself. She is still just as neurotic about cleanliness and keeping up a good image, but she's become more compassionate towards others.
PERMISSIONS
• Backtagging - I am more than happy to continue threading after a long period of time. Although I do better with faster paced tags, I can be slow depending on the time of year. If I do drop something and you want to continue, please reach out.
• 4th Wall/Thread-hopping - I'll have to pass on this.
• Mind-reading - Sure, there isn't anything that crazy in her mind beyond her repressed sexual life and obsession with guns, cleaning, and baking.
• Shipping/Romance - She is constantly jumping from one relationship to the other despite staying in them for a long time. Absolutely welcomed, and while she may or may not do a fling depending on the person, I do ask for characters to be 28+ for her specifically.
• Affection/Flirting - She is a bit anal about cleanliness and appearances, so she might reject the other person if they can't fit into her perfect world or the sex isn't great (i.e. see Karl). As for affection, she isn't the best on showing public displays of affection.
